Topamax (international name - Topiramate) refers to a group of anticonvulsant drugs which block sodium receptors stop  Topamax tablets
   nervous excitement and relieve spasms. The drug is effective for the treatment of epilepsy syndrome, migraine, tonic-clonic seizures and Lennox-Gastaut syndrome.

Structure and Composition

The main active ingredient - 15-50 mg topiramate.

Auxiliary components: sucrose, starch, povidone, cellulose acetate, gelatin.

Topamax is available in capsules of 15, 25 and 50 mg, placed in a cardboard box for 28-60 pieces.

Pharmacological Effects of Topamax

Topamax is an effective antiepileptic drug that increases the activity of GABA receptors and normalizing effect of AMPA receptors. The preparation is used to treat epilepsy in the initial stage, migraine and spasmodic states of different aetiology.

Instructions for use of Topamax

Adult patients can take Topamax, together with other anticonvulsants. The correct dosage must be established by the attending physician.

Topamax for migraine take prescribed 100 mg 2 times a day. In severe migraine attacks dosage is increased up to 200 mg two times a day. To prevent the patient should take the drug for 1 week for 1 to 25 mg once a day (at night).
