Capoten - synthetic drug, an angiotensin-converting enzyme.

It is used for hypertension, diabetic nephropathy and heart failure.

Product form

Capoten produced in the form of white square biconvex tablets. Each tablet contains 25 mg of active substance - captopril. Other ingredients - corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, lactose and stearic acid. 10 and 14 units in blister packs, 2 and 4 in the blister pack.

Pharmacological action

The active substance of the hood reduces blood pressure without causing tachycardia and decreases myocardial oxygen demand.

The maximum effect is usually an hour. The optimal value is achieved with long-term use the hood in a few weeks.

Capoten is indicated for use in patients with diabetic nephropathy, slowing down the development of renal disease in diabetes.

Capoten is indicated for use in:

  • Diabetic nephropathy in type 1 diabetes;
  • Hypertension, including renovascular;
  • After a myocardial infarction in a stable state (left ventricular dysfunction).

Capoten is also shown in a combination therapy for the treatment of chronic heart failure.


Capoten is contraindicated in the instructions for:

  • Hyperkalemia;
  • Aortic stenosis and similar obstructive changes that hamper the outflow of blood from the left ventricle;

  • Angioedema;
  • Severe disorders of the liver and kidneys;

 Capoten Tablets

Capoten tablets taken one hour before a meal. The dosage depends on the disease and set individually.

Capoten is used for hypertension:

According to the instructions Capoten in chronic heart failure is prescribed in cases of ineffective use of diuretics. The initial dose in this case - on the 6, 25 mg three times a day. Supportive - 25 mg 2-3 times a day with a maximum -6 tablets per day. The dose is increased no more frequently than every two weeks.

Use of the hood in a stable condition after suffering a heart attack can begin three days 6, 25 mg per day. Depending on the tolerability of the drug dose can be increased gradually to the maximum.

The daily dose for diabetic nephropathy - 3 to 4 tablets of the hood, which is divided into 2-3 receptions. 2 tablets twice daily administered with insulin-dependent diabetes mellitus.

In moderate and mild renal dysfunction Capoten is used for 75-100 mg, with heavy - 2 tablets a day. The dose can be gradually increased until the desired therapeutic effect.

Side effects

When using the hood may develop:

  • Peripheral edema, orthostatic hypotension and tachycardia;
