Gerpferon - antiviral drug
 Gerpferon (Herpferon) - combined antiviral drug, marketed in the form of an ointment for topical treatment of herpes infections.

Structure and Composition

Gerpferon ointment comprising acyclovir (antiviral), interferon-α-2b, recombinant human (immunomodulatory agent), lidocaine hydrochloride (topical anesthetic) and adjuvants (methyl parahydroxybenzoate, macrogol). Ointment White (creamy tint allowed) with a specific smell blurred.

According to the instructions Gerpferona 1 g of ointment contains 30 mg of acyclovir, interferon 20000ME and 10 mg of lidocaine.

Available Gerpferon ointment in aluminum tubes for 5, 10 and '30 carton contains one tube and the instructions for use of the drug.

Pharmacological action Gerpferona

According to the instructions Gerpferon possesses antiviral, immunomodulatory and local analgesic effect. Interferon-α-2b recombinant human has antiviral activity (it inhibits the division of virus infected cells), but also has immunomodulatory effect.

Acyclovir has a pronounced antiviral effect against herpes virus (Herpes Simplex type 1 and 2), which causes chicken pox and shingles. Lidocaine has a local anesthetic effect and relieves itching.

The combination of these substances in Gerpferone provides pronounced antiviral effect (against the herpes virus), prevents the appearance of new lesions, accelerates healing and reduces pain and itching.

This product is intended for local and external use. Gerpferona absorption into the blood when the intact skin - minimum (the drug is not determined in the blood or urine), and lesions of the skin absorption of the drug is moderate.


  • primary and repeated (recurrent) lesions of the skin and mucous herpes simplex virus;
  • genital herpes;
  • Shingles.

Contraindications Gerpferona

Hypersensitivity to the ingredients of the preparation.

Dosing and Administration Gerpfrona

According to the instructions Gerpferon should be applied thinly to the affected areas of skin / mucous membranes 5 times a day, with an interval of 4 hours.

The course of treatment is 5-10 days. With the disappearance of the skin lesion / mucous frequency of use of the drug is reduced.

Use during pregnancy and lactation
