Aminocaproic acid

Pharmacological action

 Aminocaproic acid powder

Aminocaproic acid is antihemorrhagic and hemostatic drug that has a specific hemostatic effect for bleeding related to increased fibrinolysis (the dissolution of blood clots). This drug helps to reduce the capillary permeability and inhibition of fibrinolysis in general. Aminocaproic acid increases the ability of the liver antitoxic, exhibits moderate anti shock and anti-allergic activity. The drug can improve some of the indicators of specific and nonspecific defense with SARS.

After application of the maximum concentration of aminocaproic acid in the blood observed after 2-3 hours. Plasma protein binding is virtually nonexistent. The bulk of the drug is excreted unchanged by the kidneys, and 10-15% biotransformed in the liver. Accumulation of aminocaproic acid occurs only in the case if there is a disruption of the urinary function.

Indications for use of aminocaproic acid

This drug is used when necessary to stop the bleeding with increased fibrinolytic activity of blood and tissue, which accompany the surgical intervention and various pathologic conditions. Thus, aminocaproic acid is effective for bleeding after surgery on the pancreas, lung, prostate, thyroid, as well as premature detachment of the placenta, acute pancreatitis, liver diseases.

Dosing aminocaproic acid

In the case of acute hypofibrinogenemia aminocaproic acid in solution form is administered at a dose of 100 ml by intravenous drip, repeated administration, if necessary after 4 hours.

Aminocaproic acid in the nose

To prevent influenza aminocaproic acid is used in the nose, which is due to the ability of the drug to strengthen the blood vessels in the nasal sinuses, reducing the risk of bleeding and increase blood clotting. This method of use of the drug is based on its anti-edema and anti-allergic effect, and ability to reduce the amount of bleeding from the nose. Appointment of aminocaproic acid in the nose allows the body and disrupt the interaction of the virus.

Recommended use of a 5% solution of aminocaproic acid as follows: 2-3 nose drops four times a day for preventive purposes, and every 3 hours during the treatment. The course - 3-7 days. Aminocaproic acid in the nose is not contraindicated for pregnant women (3 drops 3 times a day), but before the application is necessary to consult a doctor.
