ACC - a drug belonging to the group mucolytics. The active ingredient of the drug - acetylcysteine.

Pharmacological action

ACC contributes to liquefaction of mucus in the airways and their removal, has expectorant action. ACC is an antidote (a substance that can neutralize the toxic effects of poisons and toxins) with paracetamol poisoning, aldehydes, phenols.

NAC is well absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, the maximum content of the drug in the blood within 1-3 hours after ingestion. Binding acetylcysteine ​​to plasma proteins is 50%. Withdrawal of the drug in the urine and feces (a small amount). Half-life in normal liver function is 1 hour, while liver insufficiency is extended to 8 hours.

ACC passes through the placenta and may accumulate in the amniotic fluid.

Product form

ACC 100 and ACC 200 issued in the form of effervescent tablets of 20 pieces in the package.

ACC hot drink is produced in powder form for preparation of the beverage 200 and 600 mg per pack.

ACC Long produced in the form of effervescent tablets, 600 mg per package (10 pieces).

ACC powder for solution for internal doses of 100 and 200 mg per pack.

ACC children produced in powder form for internal use 30 grams in a 75 ml vial, and 60 grams in 150 ml flask.

Indications ACC

Indications for use of ACC are all diseases and conditions in which there is accumulation of mucus in the airways. These include:

- Bronchitis, acute and chronic;

- Obstructive bronchitis;

- Tracheitis;

- Bronchiolitis;

- Bronchiectasis;

- Bronchial asthma;

- Sinusitis;

- Laryngitis;

- Cystic fibrosis;

- Exudative otitis media.

Dosing and Administration ACC

 ACC Long
 According to the instruction, ACC is used to treat cystic fibrosis in the following doses:

- For patients weighing more than 30 kg a daily dose of 800 mg NAC;

- ACC for children from 10 days of life and up to 2 years of use 50 mg 2-3 times a day;

- ACC for children from 2 to 5 years is prescribed in a dose of 400 mg / day. The daily dose is divided into four portions.

- ACC for children after six years of use at a dose of 600 mg, divided into 3 doses per day.

The course of treatment ACC is 3 to 6 months.

According to the instruction, ACC in other diseases used a different way.

Use of NAC for adults and children 14 years after of 400 to 600 mg per day.

Application of ACC for children from 6 to 12 years old is 300-400 mg, which is divided into 2 doses per day.

Side effects

The use of ACC can trigger the development of side effects:

- Digestive tract: diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, heartburn, stomatitis;

- CNS: tinnitus, headaches;

- Heart and blood vessels: arrhythmia, increased blood pressure.


Contraindications to the use of ACC are:

- Hypersensitivity to the ACC;

- Peptic ulcer;

- Bleeding from the lungs;

- Fructose intolerance;

- Hepatitis and renal failure (for children).

Pregnancy and lactation

Assigning ACC during pregnancy and breast-feeding a child is possible only by the physician.

Caution should be used when ACC gastric and duodenal ulcers.

Storage conditions
