Mountain ash

Sorbus aucuparia - a deciduous tree belonging to the family Rosaceae.

 This small tree can reach a height of 15 m, it has a dense crown and smooth gray bark.

Young plants have branches grayish-red color, with big fluffy buds. Leaves imparipinnate with several pairs of unequally sharp-toothed leaves oblong-lanceolate. White flowers are arranged in the umbrella inflorescences.

Tree blossoms in May and June. The fruits of mountain ash - spherical, yagodopodobnye, pea-sized orange-red color. The taste is bitter, astringent. Fruits ripen in September and hang on the tree until late winter. After freezing they lose bitterness and astringency, and become palatable.
